Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama was a manga artist who became famous for Dragon Ball, a manga created in 1984. He also created other manga such as Dr. Slump and Sand Land.

In the gaming world, he contributed to games such as Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, Chrono Trigger and Tobal.

He passed away at the age of 68 on March 1, 2024 from a subdural hematoma.

Masayuki Kato

Masayuki Kato photo

Masayuki Kato was a director, screenwriter, supervisor, and producer, as well as the founder of the classic developer Nihon Falcom.

His most famous works include the Ys series, Dragpm Slayer, Xanadu, and Sorcerian.

He passed away at the age of 78 on December 15, 2024.

Jennell Jaquays

Jennell Jaquays was a Game Designer and Artist, as well as an illustrator of board role-playing games.

Among her main games, she worked on Commander Keen, Age of Empires 3, Quake 2 and 3.

She passed away at the age of 67 on January 10, 2024.

Martyn James Brown

Martyn Brown was a game designer, director, producer and co-founder of Team17, best known for the Worms series.

He passed away on December 28, 2024.

Laralyn McWilliams

Laralyn McWilliams photo

Laralyn McWilliams was a Game Designer and Director, her most famous game being the MMORPG Free Realms that she developed at Sony Online Entertainment.

She also worked on games such as Full Spectrum Warrior and Over the Hedge.

Sadly, she passed away in 2024 due to complications from heart surgery at the age of 58.

Brett Jones

Brett Jones was a graphic artist, known for his work on the GoldenEye and Perfect Dark games for the Nintendo 64 at RARE.

He left Rare in 2002 and went on to work in visual effects and animation for films and television, having worked on shows such as Doctor Who, Fantastic Beasts, Guardians of the Galaxy and Being Human.

He passed away on July 17, 2024.

Silvio Luiz

Silvio Luiz was a football referee, presenter and commentator, having worked on the Pro Evolution Soccer series from 2011 to 2016 as a commentator for the Brazilian version of the game.

He passed away at the age of 89 on May 16, 2024.

Geoff Follin

Geoff Follin was a composer, working mainly in the 1990s on several games that adapted films and comics such as Wolverine, Indiana Jones, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man / X-Men: Arcade's Revenge and Batman Forever.

He sadly passed away at the age of 56 on May 7, 2024 due to pancreatic cancer.

Yoshitaka Murayama

Yoshitaka Murayama (村山 吉隆) was a game designer, director, and producer. He is best known for the Suikoden series, which he produced for Konami until his departure from the company in 2002.

His last game was the RPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, released in 2024, shortly after his death.

He sadly passed away at the age of 55 on February 6, 2024.

Mutsumi Inomata

Mutsumi Inomata was an illustrator and animator, working on several anime, manga, and games.

One of her most notable works is Namco's Tales of series, where she was the character designer for the series.

She passed away at the age of 63 on March 10, 2024.

Tsutomu Maruyama

Tsutomu Maruyama was a Director, Game Designer, Producer and Art Director at ADK, a developer famous for its partnership with SNK.

Famous games he worked on include World Heroes, Aggressors of Dark Kombat, Ninja Commando, Crossed Swords and Gang Wars.

He passed away on December 16, 2024.

Andrew C. Greenberg

Andrew C. Greenberg photo

Andrew Clifford Greenberg was a developer and lawyer, best known for co-creating the Wizardry series with Robert Woodhead, one of the first role-playing games for computers.

He also helped produce the classic Q*bert.

He passed away at the age of 67 on August 30, 2024.
