Virtual Boy / バーチャルボーイ
The Virtual Boy is a 5th-generation console designed by Gunpei Yokoi and released by Nintendo on July 21, 1995. Its main distinguishing feature was its portable virtual reality console.
It featured a 32-bit NEC V810 processor running at 20 MHz, and its display consisted of two screens with a resolution of 384x224 and a frequency of 50.27Hz.
Unfortunately, its two-color display (red and black), its heavy weight, and the fact that it couldn't be used as glasses, only rested on a table, ultimately made this feature ineffective, proving a failure for Nintendo.
It was discontinued in 1996, selling approximately 770,000 units and having a tiny collection of just 22 games released for it.
