Atari Jaguar
The Atari Jaguar is a console from Atari Corporation that was released in the United States in November 1993.
At the time, it was advertised as the first 64-bit console, making it more powerful than its 16-bit rivals, the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, and the 32-bit 3DO.
Unfortunately, its architecture was very complex, and almost no developer managed to extract good graphics from the console. Several developers ended up making games that were comparable to 16-bit consoles, mainly because they used fewer chips in the system.
Atari later released a CD expansion for it, called the Jaguar CD, but this also failed to produce much success.
The Atari Jaguar ended up having a small library of games during its official support period, around 60 games, including those for the Jaguar CD. After its discontinuation, open-source development tools were made available for it, and games are still released for it today.
It ended up selling around 250,000 units.
